Ready, Set, Dance (Tiny Tots)
One hour combo class of jazz, tap, hip hop, singing, music and a whole lot of fun! It’s the perfect way to start developing the co-ordination skills that are the basics of all dance classes. It’s also seen on Nick Jr.
BAL Ballet
Ballet is used as a basis for all dance styles taught at Step Up, it improves flexibility, poise, posture and physical strength. Our students at Step Up have been continuing a high standard of ballet each year in their exams. Step Up teach from Beginners right up to Elementary Ballet and it is the most disciplined subject to take.
Tap
Tap develops a great sense of rhythm, timing and musicality. As above, tap helps improve physical strength, particularly in the legs, ankles and feet. At first, tap can seem hard but after a few lessons it will come and you won’t ever forget it! Step Up students have also continued to set high standards in these exams over the last 15 years.
Jazz
Jazz, the most popular of all styles taught at Step Up. It develops co-ordination, fitness, flexibility, strength and most importantly, style. It can be enjoyed by all ages and is easy and fun to learn. We encourage versatility in our students, teaching them a number of different routines throughout the year. They are encouraged to express themselves and have fun with the music.
Hip Hop
Derived from Jazz, Hip Hop is most commonly seen in today’s video clips and is quickly becoming one of the most popular styles of dance. It expresses freedom of movement to hip hop music from the charts, it develops a strong sense of co-ordination.
Modern/Contemporary
Derived from ballet, it is very expressive and compliments students that study ballet. There are no limits and it is very creative as it develops awareness of the body and gracefulness.
Acro Dance for all ages and Tiny Tumblers for 2-4 years (Mudgee and Dunedoo studio only)
Acro Dance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. Acro is not the same as gymnastics. It involves teaching the children about balance, strength, co-ordination and stamina to then teach them a range of skills (including tumbling) and the correct and safe way to practice them.
Ladies Classes (Gulgong Studio Only)
Our ladies jazz, tap and stretch classes have been going strong since Step Up opened in 2007. Often a crowd favourite in the concert the classes offer fun and fitness all rolled into one. Packed with a number of wonderful ladies the classes are a great way to meet new people. No experience is required, only the ability to be able to let go and have a bit of a laugh with everyone! (PS. They’re the best group of ladies you’ll ever meet!)
